Solve challenges through Citizen Science with UT

In this MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) you will train yourself in involving educational institutions as researchers in local and regional challenges. This course is for anyone interested in Citizen Science and the role of education in social development. You will dive into the world of Citizen Science, with a focus on encouraging active participation and collaboration between educational institutions and the community. You will learn how to develop and implement effective strategies to engage educational institutions in researching and solving real problems in their environment.  

Support active citizens in their efforts to contribute to solving local challenges. This resource contains learning materials on taking leadership in local and regional challenges, including digital transformations. The course, which requires 6-8 hours to complete, is delivered in Dutch and is focused on providing practical strategies without the need for additional resources.

Help active citizens understand the importance of local and regional associations. It is available in Dutch and serves as a foundational tool for assessing the impact of local and regional challenge projects.

To develop critical thinking skills in active citizens. This resource is centred around developing critical thinking skills through practical engagement and reflection. Active citizens are provided with reflection tools to critically analyze their actions and learn from their experiences. At the end of the MOOC you have the opportunity to earn two certificates. You will receive the first certificate after successfully completing the course and completing the assignment. The second, more advanced certificate, can be earned by actually involving an educational institution in tackling a local or regional challenge.

This deck includes a selection of exercises that are focused on the co-creation and participation with citizens and is part of the digital training program that equips citizens with the capacity to flourish and thrive in CS projects. The intention is to empower university partners with ideas for collaboration and participation and to connect with their participants within citizen science projects. It provides an overview of stand-alone exercises to adapt to their unique context, project and participants.
