What have we produced?
It is an evidence-based, forward-focused research report that provides evidence for the development of a transferable European framework that facilitates sustainable regional Citizen Science (CS) development and useful and legitimate strategies that guide the development of regional CS network communities and digital training programs.
The report summarises the status-quo of citizens’ behaviours, motivations and change signals on CS at the European level, using secondary data (peer-reviewed papers, reports, stories from blogs and university websites) and surveys. It explores citizens, regional/local adults- and higher educators’ necessities and expectations of regional CS development through surveys and interviews.
Help us validate the usability of the report by completing a survey. Your feedback is highly appreciated.
To engage citizens and academics in Citizen Science (CS) projects, consortium partners have found that creating a fun and meaningful experience is essential. In this output, the consortium has integrated the insights from the Final Report to co-design and co-create digital, evidence-based, and certified training materials to encourage active participation in CS by adult citizens, scientists, and students, as well as equipping them with essential skills.
The Capacity Building program will add value to the existing knowledge-building MOOCs from other CS projects (e.g. EU-citizen.science, CoAct) by guiding academics and citizens toward a productive and inspiring CS experience through creative methodologies (e.g., behavioural design thinking, future design) and equipping them with essential skills (e.g. interdisciplinary communication, science thinking, digital competence and entrepreneurial skills) enabling them to thrive in CS projects and remain resilient in the modern society.
